CSHS Webinar: Natural Channels

 In Archived, Uncategorized

Failures are wonderful learning opportunities; they’re great illustrations of what *not* to do. In that spirit, please join us for three repeat presentations from the 2023 Conference on Natural Channel Systems. All three presentations show a failure in natural channel design in either form or function: either through erosion of the feature or by barring fish passage. The first two are modern examples of natural channel design and the third is a potential natural channel design to restore fish passage.

The titles and presenters are as follows:

  • Lessons Learned: Design Considerations for Long Term Stability and Function of Riffles in ‘Natural’ Channel Design

Chris Cummings, CON-CISEC, Matrix Solutions Inc.

  • Anatomy of a Failed Stream Restoration Project in BC

Brad Fairley, MES, 5 Smooth Stones Restoration

  • Restoring Fish Passage in the Eagle River after 100 Years

Lucas Warner, M.Sc., P.Bio., 5 Smooth Stones Restoration
