June 16, 2020 – National Hydro Network v2

 In Archived, Webinars

Many hydrologists working in Canada are aware of the National Hydro Network produced by Natural Resources Canada. It is a federal dataset containing lakes, rivers, and flowpaths that is often used as backdrop and occasionally used for limited analysis. Many practitioners have downloaded the NHN shapefiles with these purposes in mind.

This limited use scenario may be about to change. A new version of the NHN is under consideration right now. It will include data and services built on 21st century models and technologies designed to support many kinds of analysis. It promises to be fast and efficient, and to be easy to use for those working in the hydrology domain.

On behalf of CSHS and NRCan, We invite you to a 2½ hour, virtual workshop scheduled for June 16 at 1.00pm Eastern Time. We will discuss some ideas regarding what the NHNv2 might look like and show you a demo that should be of interest. The intent of the workshop is to introduce this initiative to you. We want your feedback. It will strongly influence where NRCan goes with this.
